Claude Code isn’t just for developers — and Pat Miller’s experience using it to fix real computer problems in minutes is proof of that.

One year ago, ChatGPT finally got write actions. You know what that means in plain English? The AI could actually do things on your computer. Draft emails. Create documents. Schedule meetings. It was like giving a very smart assistant the keys to your digital life. And everyone went absolutely wild about it. But here’s the thing nobody was talking about: that was child’s play compared to what I discovered with Claude Code.

Why Most Non-Technical People Are Afraid of Claude Code

I was always convinced that Code was for developers. Not for me. I’m not a programmer. I don’t speak that language. Claude Code had this reputation of being this incredibly powerful tool, but it was exclusively for people who actually knew how to code. So I did what most non-technical people do. I stuck my toe in the water. Very carefully. Like a cartoon character sneaking down a hallway, looking both ways before taking each step.

And then something magical happened. It was like that moment in Star Wars when the Millennium Falcon hits lightspeed. Suddenly you’re going so fast that everything behind you blurs and you don’t know what’s possible anymore. That was my experience with Claude Code.

How Claude Code Fixes Real Tech Problems in Five Minutes

Here’s what I realized: everyone has these minor tech annoyances. Not big problems that justify hiring someone. Not issues worth paying for IT support. Just little things that are mildly broken and cost you a tiny bit of productivity every single day. Your iCloud is full. Your internet drops during calls. Your downloads folder looks like a tornado hit it. You lost a headshot and can’t find it. You have a port that needs checking. Any of these things would take a developer hours, but they take an AI maybe five minutes to fix.

I went on what I can only describe as a boop rampage. That’s what I call using Claude Code to fix things. I’d boop my way through my entire computer. Fixed iCloud. Fixed the internet dropping. Organized folders. Got my headshot back. Let Claude Code do a port scan. All of it. And every single one of those fixes took maybe five to ten minutes from start to finish.

Non-Technical Skills Required

I need to be clear about something: I have zero technical skills. I’m not exaggerating. I couldn’t read a line of code if you paid me. But I am the best boop on the planet. I’m genuinely good at identifying these little problems and throwing them at Claude Code. I’m good at describing what I want fixed in plain English. I’m good at going back and forth and saying “No, not quite, try this instead.” Those are not coding skills. Those are just problem-solving skills. And everyone has those.

The big message here is this: it’s okay to go into the code area of your AI tool. It’s not just for programmers anymore. If you’ve been avoiding Claude Code or ChatGPT’s advanced features because you think they’re not for you, stop thinking that. They’re absolutely for you. Especially if you’re someone running a business solo or with a tiny team and you’re constantly bumping into tech annoyances that eat up your productivity.

The moment you stop thinking of these tools as only for technical people is the moment you unlock something incredibly powerful. You have a junior developer living in your computer now. One that works for free. One that doesn’t sleep. One that’s willing to try something five different ways if the first four don’t work.

How to Unleash Claude Code on Your Actual Computer

The real power is when you take this technology and you unleash it on your actual machine. Not on hypotheticals. Not on test scenarios. On the real stuff that’s been bugging you for months. Your computer probably has a dozen of these little fixes waiting to happen. And with Claude Code, you can probably handle half of them before lunch.

The fact that I went from “Code is definitely not for me” to “I fix computer problems by just saying boop” tells you everything you need to know. If I can do it, anyone can do it. And if you’re spending five to ten minutes a day working around some tech annoyance that’s bothering you, why not spend five to ten minutes once to fix it forever?
