Originally aired Tuesday, March 10, 2026. Businessing is now a weekly show with a new episode every Monday.
Short answer: If you can't say no to clients' schedules, the business is running you. Start by raising your rates so you need fewer hours, then bring in junior help for some clients. Charge a premium for the times you don't want to work. With a full pipeline, you can set new terms and new clients will never know the old ones.
My tech was on strike today, but we got through it. The Idea Slam took two questions I hear all the time. A personal trainer works 6am to 7pm, six days a week, and can't say no. I walked through rates, junior trainers and picking your own hours. Then an owner whose Fiverr VA went great for two weeks and now needs an hour a day of checking. I shared how I hand off work: outcome first, then a video, a live call, and training wheels. In the news, the DHS shutdown and airport lines, Ticketmaster's settlement, Arnold returning as Conan, and Microsoft teaming up with Anthropic on Copilot Cowork.
Businessing is the weekly show where small business owners figure out what to do next, with a new episode every Monday. Hosted by Pat Miller, founder of the Small Business Owners Community: owners only, nobody pitching, $19 a month.
Key takeaways
- If you work 13-hour days six days a week, raise your rates so each hour pays more and you need fewer of them.
- Bring in a junior team member to serve some clients, and keep your own time for clients who pay a higher rate.
- Decide which days you won't work, and charge a clear premium to anyone who wants those times.
- When you delegate, explain the outcome first, then show a video of how you do it, then do a live call together.
- Coach a contractor who's slipping, but if they still aren't getting it after a month, replace them quickly.
Questions this episode answers
How do I stop working six days a week in my service business?
Treat it as your choice, because it is. Raise your rates, bring in junior help for some clients, and decide which days you won't work. A full pipeline gives you room to set new terms, since new clients never knew the old schedule or price.
Why does my virtual assistant start strong and then slip?
New hires often work hard to make a good first impression, and owners stop paying attention once the handoff feels done. Share the outcome you want, show them how you do it on video, walk through it live, then monitor and correct. Walk away once they're about 80% as good as you.
When should I fire a contractor?
If you've given clear coaching and support and they still aren't meeting your standard after about a month, move on. Pat's view is that there are plenty of contractors out there, and life is too short to keep a bad one.
Worth quoting
If you can't say no to anyone's schedule, then you don't run a business. The business runs you.

It's, it's been a morning friends. Uh, and Steve, it's great to see you. And Lacey, thanks for helping me out with the sound, Theresa as well. Thanks for stopping by. Um, everything that can break has broken, and I don't know what happened at the time change, but all of my technology is on strike.
I. It has been. It's been wild. So we got the news we're gonna talk about. There's an AI story of the day that we're gonna talk about, about, uh, Microsoft and Anthropic working together. I was confused about the story yesterday and I'll explain the whole thing today. Our lead story today up here in the corner.
You will see the 2026 SBO con SBOC conference wait list, and I'm going to reveal a little bit about the conference and encourage you to get on the wait list. And yes, Kristen, you're exactly right. It has been a hoo. It has been a hoo this morning for sure. We will do some idea slam questions. Idea slam question right now is number one.
Hey Pat, how come all your stuff is broken? No, I'm kidding. That's, that's not it. The first question is, uh, I work from six to seven every single day, six days a week because I have a bunch of business and I just can't say no help. Common question for a successful business. We'll talk about that. And the other one is I picked up.
A VA off of Fiverr and everything was going great, and now it's not. Am I wrong? Am I doing something wrong? That is a common story for people that hire someone remotely. So we'll talk about how do you manage a remote employee better during the Idea Slam? And we're doing a great job this morning with the folks that are in the chat saying Hello and good morning.
I wanna know all about you and what you're doing. Lacey gets the bonus points this morning because she shared about her business. Uh, she shared her link. She's a fractional CFO with Lotus Consulting. So since.
Lacey said good morning and told us what she did. She gets the glow on the screen. Awesome to see you Lacey.
Thanks for tuning in. Okay, let's get into the show. Provided my technology lets me freaking. Should I complain? No, you don't.
Just know it's been a challenge, friends. It has lead story. Today in the news. The DHS shutdown is starting to really affect airports. It's now entering its fourth week and wait times.
At TSA checkpoints is getting really, really long, and we got a shout out to the TSA workers in the first place. Their pay is all screwed up. Partial paychecks, no paychecks, and. Some of them are calling in sick absences are spiking and you can kind of understand it. You start messing with people's pay.
They're not gonna show up like they normally do. Houston's airport had three hour waits yesterday. Can you imagine standing three hours to get through security? Atlanta, new Orleans and Phoenix are also advising and warning about three hour wait times as well. One report had an airport TSA line that was so long it spilled out into the parking lot.
So why am I sharing this one? We gotta get this DHS thing figured out because this is, this is no good. And two, if you are flying anywhere until this gets solved, I, I can't even tell you how early to go to the airport and I am go to the airport early guy. I like to go to the airport early. I'm there because I like to have an airport beer.
Those of you that know that, like it's a top 10 beer on the planet, the airport beer and having the airport beer is pretty incredible. So I like to go there early, maybe have a cold one, but even a guy that goes to the airport early, three hours early, ya, that's, that's kind of crazy. The least popular company in the United States, and I'm just making that up, but we'll just say the least popular company in the United States, at least in my opinion, has been slapped down.
Uh, they reached a deal with the Department of Justice to settle an antitrust lawsuit. What is the least popular company in the United States? What do you think? And when I say it, you'll go, oh, yeah, yeah, yeah. That's, that's the least popular company. What do you think the least popular company is in the United States?
Ticketmaster. Yeah. Ticketmaster. Oof. Are they the wor?
They're the worst. They're the worst. So the DOJ settlement yesterday forces them to let their venues use competitors. So we're talking about SeatGeek and StubHub can now have their tickets inside venues that used to be frozen out with monopolies. Uh, and Live Nation must also divest in 13 of their theaters, and they got fined $280 million.
Yikes. And that's not even done because not all the states are accepting that deal. Some of them are rejecting that deal and pressing forward with their own lawsuit. So I, I don't like to celebrate when something bad happens to a business, but if you are gonna celebrate when something bad happens to a business, yeah, ticket master.
And to me, the proof that they're evil is when. They incorporate the secondary tickets on the same page as the regular tickets. Do you know what I mean? You log in to buy tickets for a show, it's like, oh wow, there are great seats available, and you click on it and they're like $1,400. 'cause someone had already purchased that ticket and put it back on the secondary market on the same screen as the first one.
Oh man. Just. Whew. Not good. How about something?
Okay, here's a question. Eshu. Welcome to the show, by the way, it's my favorite brand of beer. My favorite brand of beer is when it's cold. I, I, I love beer.
Beer is fantastic. Uh, but I'm kind of an ap. IPA guy if I had to choose any beer, a porter love me, a good porter.
Yum. Thanks for the question. Great to see you this morning. Okay. Little bit of Hollywood nostalgia.
Makes the news as well. I'll be back. I'm not gonna do the accent, but I'll be back. Arnold is coming back to the big screen he announced at his sports festival that he's gonna come back as not like some comedy movie, like think about what he's known for.
Arnold is coming back as Conan. What? There's a new movie that's gonna be released by 20th Century Studios. The guy that directed Mission Impossible is going to write and direct it, and he's coming back as Conan and Arnold's quote was, they will write it to be age appropriate. I'll still go in and kick some ass, but it'll be different.
Yeah, a little different, little different. Arnold. Uh, but how much fun will that be? Can you imagine sitting in the theater, big bowl of popcorn, big screen right there and then here comes Conan. Even. He'll, he still looks fantastic 'cause he is Arnold. But even being old, it's gonna be just this rush of uh, nostalgia and fun.
Which is great. So I thought that was kind of cool. So yay for Conan the barbarian coming back and yay for Arnold for doing his thing. Man, ses you, I really love you. I was gonna send you a six pack of fat tire.
Fat tire's a great beer. Do you know why? 'cause it's beer. Big fan of the beer, and I got a great invite from our friend Steve yesterday to go hang out on the Great Lakes distillery patio yesterday, and we had our SBOC meetup in Lake Country and I couldn't make it.
So Steve, thanks for the invite, dude. I would love to take you up on that because hashtag beer. Let's talk about the lead story. Lead story Today is big because I made a strategic SY decision with the SBOC conference. If you're new to the show or you're new to the small business owners community, or we're just meeting, hi, how are you?
The biggest thing that I do all year is I host the Small business Owners community conference, which means we're bringing small business owners together, whether in the community or not, for a couple of days in September. To learn, connect, grow, collaborate, create joint ventures, and realize they're not alone on their small business journey.
That's what it's all about. This is the sixth time that we've hosted this conference and planning the conference is a year round endeavor. Happens in September. I normally collapse for the month of October, but then by November we're starting to spin up how it's gonna work, what we're gonna do, who we're gonna have as our keynote speakers, how are we gonna make this year better than last year?
And that's always the driving factor. So we've had people come to the conference and say, this is the turning point in my business. This is where I made a joint venture. In the business. We just had a, a, a person here last night that made a deal, changed their company after talking with our keynote speaker last year, and now they're off and killing it.
It's a great spot for you to meet others and build your business in real time. Uh, big fancy stage, incredible keynotes. And then all of the fun happens between all of the stuff because you're in a room with 200 other small business owners. That's where things get interesting this year. This isn't virtual.
There's no zoom room. I don't share the recordings afterwards unless you're in the small business owners community. So we're talking in real life with 200 entrepreneurs, but here's where we're doing things differently. Last year at the conference, I invited people to pre-register, Hey, do you want to reserve your seat before the conference?
So we had a bunch of people do that. And we have a bunch of sponsors. So I have tickets set aside for the sponsors. Then we have VIP tickets, so I gotta set aside some tickets for VIP, which aren't on sale yet, but I had to hold some tickets for VIP. So of the 200 tickets that we have, we have 125 tickets available.
That kind of causes a little bit of a traffic jam because we have. We're just now at, I believe, 160 members of the small business owners community. So we're going to have kind of an issue when the tickets go on sale because when these 125 are gone, they're gone. So here's how we're gonna do it. The wait list is open now, and you should see the QR code on your screen right now.
I'm asking you if you're even remotely interested to come to the conference this year. Scan the QR code, click the link, get on the list. I only need your name and your email if you wanna gimme your phone number, awesome. But name and email is all we need. And if you can do that, we'll get you on the list.
Now, what do you get when you get on the list? When you get on the list, you get access to the tickets before they go on sale to the general public. That's the big get. So of these a hundred. Of these 125 tickets.
Now I'm being told that people can't hear me again. Are you kidding me? Is that really happening again?
Gotta help me out. I just got a text and I got a message. Thank you. Susie Moon,
is that better? I'm so sorry for the technical problems today. Friends, this is not what we anticipated here. Please, someone tell me if that's better. I'm getting readouts that my message is working.
You can hear the video is delayed for me. Kristen. Thank you Kristen. Okay. If you are having a technical issue, it, if I'm having a technical issue and you can't hear me, I apologize, but let me explain and continue to explain what we're doing here, uh, with this wait list that we're, we're doing so.
Lacey, thank you. So one Shu. Thank you. Jenny Kirby. Thank you.
Thank you, thank you. Thank you all for letting me know Steve. Thank you. Alright. I'm sorry guys.
I've just been in a technical nightmare the last couple of days. Anyway, 200 tickets, 75 spoken for the wait list gets you access to the tickets 24 hours before they go on sale to the general public.
Every member of our community, the small business owners community. They'll have access to the tickets 48 hours in advance. So we'll have 48 hours of time for community members, 24 hours of time for people that are on the wait list, there's no financial commitment to get on the wait list. You'll just get access before the general public gets a chance because you've watched the show and you've hung out with me in the newsletter, and we've met each other before.
So if you want early access to get your ticket to the conference. I would really love it if you do that. And here's the thing. Between now and the conference, I'm gonna reveal our keynote speaker who will be in person this year, which I'm really excited about. We'll talk about some of the topics that we're gonna cover, some of the creative new ways that we've built to bring people together, uh, and build collaboration.
But one other thing that I wanna share that I think is pretty important. I'm offering tickets at the lowest price I've ever lo uh, offered them tickets this year are gonna be 3 99, which is the lowest I've ever offered the ticket. Why am I doing that? 'cause I want it to absolutely sell out, and I want it to sell out right away.
It includes meals, it includes a swag bag, it includes all of our speakers. It includes all of our collaboration, everything. Our welcome party, it's all included. This is the conference of the year. I want you to be a part of it. I'm gonna be talking about it consistently here on the show, and this is where you can connect with other entrepreneurs that are doing a hundred thousand to 500,000 to 700,000 a year in revenue.
And if you're sitting there thinking, uh, no one understands what I'm going through, not in this room. We're not gonna be asking you to join $50,000 a year masterminds. We're gonna be walking with you shoulder to shoulder solving problems together. So coaches, consultants, fractional CFOs, bookkeepers, electricians, you name it.
This is the event for you. So sharing it this morning, the QR code is on the screen. I'm also gonna toss it up here in the corner as we continue the show. But this is big news for us because we are gonna sell this baby out. Tickets go on sale May 13th. So click the QR code name, email, and phone. That's all we need.
We'll give you access 24 hours before they go on sale. And if you know someone. That wants to be there, just scan the QR code and share it with them as well. Very excited about that. Let's talk about our AI story of the day, shall we? So yesterday on the show, I shared this really interesting story that broke right before I went on air.
Like, wow, that's, that's interesting. Microsoft's, CEO. Shared a tweet like at 10 48 or something right before I went on air. Microsoft is excited to announce Microsoft copilot cowork, and I remember saying on the show yesterday, copilot, cowork the heck. Is that about? Because Claude's product is called cowork.
The product will allow you to drive all of the Microsoft products with some agent style behavior. It will do stuff for you inside the Microsoft ecosystem. I thought that name, that can't be a coincidence. Turns out it's not. I didn't have time to do the research before the show yesterday. I've done it now.
Microsoft and Anthropic Claude's company, they're going to do a partnership inside Microsoft 365. So Excel and Teams and PowerPoint and all of that is going to get the Claude treatment. Now, why is this special? It's special because Claude Rules one. It's also special because Microsoft is choosing Claude.
Why? They've made a $13 billion investment in open AI already, and they're partnering with Claude. What does that say? Does that mean they're just like hedging their bets and having a foot in each pond? Is that saying that we back the wrong horse? What does that say? I'm excited for Microsoft users 'cause now they get some of the Claude goodness. 'cause I convinced that Claude is the best model out there right now, especially Claude Cowork.
It's absolutely incredible and I have news on that as well. That's the second big announcement that I'm gonna share. But to close up this. Copilot cowork. It's $30 a month per user rolling out later this month. So if you are stuck in the Microsoft ecosystem and copilot is, eh, hang on folks, because cowork is coming to the rescue and now that name makes a lot more sense.
Copilot. Cowork. Of course, that makes sense. So very excited for that. The idea slam is coming up. Uh, first question is about how often and how long somebody works. The questions from a personal trainer who works 6:00 AM to 7:00 PM six days a week, and they say they can't say no to anyone's schedule help, we can definitely help with that.
And the other question comes from someone that's hired a VA off of Fiverr. Which I think we've all kind of experienced this before I hired a VA off of Fiverr, things were going great, and then now things aren't working. Am I bad at delegating or is this just how it goes? It's not exactly you, but you could probably do better.
We'll cover that in the idea Slam coming up in just a minute. Sponsored this morning by our friends at Gen Head Scale Systems. Not Chaos. Gen Head is built for early stage businesses and it's perfect for founders and solopreneurs and lean teams who need real momentum. Not complex tools that require a full-time operator.
Everything is streamlined and practical and easy to act on immediately. And this one system will do the work of like 10 disconnected tools because you don't have to juggle your CRM and your social media scheduling and your content tools and your funnels, and it's all under one hood, and it makes life clearer with less chaos and better data, clearer execution.
Learn more by scanning the QR code or visiting gen head.com. That's gen head.com. Idea slam time. Love me the idea slam. This is our chance to talk about your business in front of everybody. It's really easy, by the way, you just come on the air and tell me what you're struggling with. Tell me what the challenge or the opportunity is in your business.
You can come on. We'll talk all about who you are and what you do, and then myself as well as everyone in the chat, which is nice and full this morning. Good morning friends. They could all be brainstorming on your ha on your behalf as well. And we did a live event last night and during the live event I expressed why the idea Slam is great as saying we all have bias.
We think this is what we should do, and we all have blind spots, which is the most dangerous part. We can't see that we're not charging enough. We can't see that we're making the same mistake again or whatever it might be, but the power of perspective that I can give and that the folks in the chat can give, that's some really valuable stuff.
So before you make a great big decision. Come on the idea Slam. Let us help you out with your biggest challenge or opportunity to do that. The QR code is on the screen right now. Alright, let's get into it. First question, I'm a personal trainer who works 6:00 AM to 7:00 PM six days a week because I can't say no to anyone's schedule.
I make decent money, but I haven't had a Saturday off in four months warning, where do I even start to fix this? Okay. I'm summiting all of my Fridays off. Goodness. Kinda like winding up for the pitch here, because you know, I'm not gonna tell anybody to work six days a week. That's, that's not a thing because you didn't get into this to work six days a week.
Every single one of you watching this, you didn't start your business to work six days a week. You started your business to work less than you ever have and make more than you ever have. We all did. So something's fundamentally wrong. And if you can't say no to anyone's schedule, then you don't run a business.
The business runs you. In fact, you have a job. And on no planet do I want this to be a job? Do you wanna have a job? Do you, do you tapping the glass?
Tap, tap, tap. Do you wanna have a job? Hell no. You don't wanna have a job. You wanna have a business that makes mega gaos and you can work less than you ever have.
So like the person that wrote this in, you can understand how important it is that we break this up. So back to the trainer, six days a week, 6:00 AM to 7:00 PM they're living in a reality and their reality is people don't have time for the gym during the day. So their business may not be 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
Totally fine. So you have to adjust your schedule to go around when people are available to work out. So it's very likely that you would work 6:00 AM to nine and 4:00 PM to seven. You may have a split shift 'cause that might be your life. So your realities of the industry is the first thing. The second thing is we have to have a talk about your rates.
If you've gotta work. 13 hours a day, six days a week, you're not charging enough. Now you say that you're killing it, which I'm happy about, but you shouldn't have to have that many units of inventory. So you probably need to raise your rates just a little bit more. And if you have that much business, the last thing I was thinking was it's time to start bringing in junior trainers.
So if I'm a fitness trainer, because you know, come on, look at me. Guns, no Popeye guns. But if I were a fitness trainer and I was in that situation, I'd bring in Pat Junior and I would say, Hey, uh, pat Junior is gonna work with you moving forward, and I'm gonna work with these clients at an elevated rate.
And if a couple of clients leave, one, you're elevating your rate to make up for it. And two, you've got too many clients in the first place. So you could still offer them the chance to work with Pat Jr. But you can start offloading people and if someone wants you to train on a Saturday for me or Friday for me, they'd have to pay buku premium bucks for that.
If we zoom out and think about all this feedback, we're really talking about the choices that you are making, you are choosing. To say yes to your clients, even when they wanna work seven to six days a week, you're choosing to work 13 hours a day when you don't have to. You're choosing not to bring in a junior trainer, and most importantly, you are not choosing when you wanna work in the first place.
I don't wanna work Saturdays not gonna do it. These are the decisions you have to make. This isn't a trainer, this isn't a client problem. This is a you problem. To turn it into something positive. This is an opportunity for you to redesign how you want the business to work because you are in a great spot to close out this particular question.
You have the opportunity to design your business when you have a lot of pending clients, a lot of opportunity, a full funnel that you're warming up and engaging. You're very flexible at that point. So if this client bombs and leaves, but you've got three extras in the funnel, the three new clients will never know.
You used to train six days a week. The three new clients will never know. You used to charge a hundred dollars an hour and now it's 1 25 and it's none of their business. You wanna work with me, this is the new reality. Do it or don't. All of that stuff gets spun up into how you should be attacking this.
But more than anything, if you find yourself working six days a week, you are the one that's letting it happen. So it's time to get back in control. Hope that helps. A second question today is about hiring a VA off of Fiverr, and I think we've all kind of had this before. I know I've had this before. The question is I hired a VA off of Fiverr to handle my inbox and social media scheduling.
She's been great for two weeks, but now I'm spending an hour a day checking her work. Am I delegating wrong or do I just not trust people enough? Well, you're delegating wrong. I, I can't tell you how many times I've hired a va and for some reason it goes great for the first couple of weeks. Like they are dialed in and things are awesome, and it's probably because they're trying to make a good first impression.
Human nature, just kinda how it goes. But then people can drift and, and people can kind of not perform as well as they should. But the other thing that can happen is. Once you've delegated something, you can kind of ignore them. So you're giving them all of your time and attention to make sure things get started on the right foot.
And they do. And then you start doing other things and, oh, wait a minute, they're not doing what they should be doing. So if you wanna delegate something, right, you have to share with them what the outcome is. A lot of people share what the process is. Click here, click here, click here, click here. Now, that's important.
It's more powerful to say to the va, I need this shape to be on this wall. That's what I'm asking you to do. So share what the outcome is. Now, why would you share before you show them how to do it, you would share because they may have a better way of doing it than you do. And this is a truth that many of us don't want to embrace when we're delegating to people.
Somebody might have a better way of doing it than you. Someone might be better at it than you. Someone might be smarter than you, and hopefully you're hiring people that are smarter than you. That's what I want. I want to, I wanna be the dumbest person in my company, which isn't hard, but I want everybody to be smarter than me.
Share the outcome first. Second thing you would then do is show them. So I want this shape on this wall. Here's how I go about doing that. I click here and go to this document. I download this form, and I go to this website and I go, dink dink, dink dink dink dink, ding, dink dink. Here's a video of me doing all of those things.
Cool. Then get on a zoom with them and have them watch you do it. So now they know what the outcome is. Now they've seen a video of you doing it. Now you're on a call with them pushing all the buttons.
That's important because they can stop you and say, Hey, why did you do that? Hey, what? What I've never seen?
They can ask questions. Then you go to training wheels. Alright, try it. See how it goes. Monitor how the performance is correct. Critical mistakes coach, things that could be a little bit better. As Dan Martel said, in buy back your time, by the time it gets to 80% as good as what you can do, walk away.
So I would share the outcome, show them in a video how you do it. Do a call with them so you can have them watch you do it. Then monitor their performance, correct how it goes, and then walk away. That's how you delegate to somebody. The other thing is to remember. When you're delegating, especially to a contractor and contractors, I love you.
Okay? You know that we have a, we have a thing. You know, I love you contractors, but don't listen for a second. There's an infinite number of contractors, and if your contractor is not getting it done, fire them fast. Fast if you're coaching them correctly and giving them the support that they need. Fine.
But if they're just not getting it, move on straight away. Find somebody else, find another solution. Life is too short to have a bad contractor. It just absolutely is. So that's how I would handle it. And if after a month someone isn't turning out to be at the standards that you're expecting, it would be time to fire and hire.
Somebody new. So that's how the idea slam works. So if you were live on the air, we would've a conversation about your business. I'd be asking you questions, I'd be comparing your outcomes. We'd be talking about how to solve your particular problem. 'cause here's what I know, you have a red task that has to get done today.
I know there's something on your to-do list that you could use a second opinion on. I know it. Do you know how I know it? Because I got it too and I've got it every freaking day. So not getting support is a choice.
If you want support, come on the idea slam. We would love to have you. So come on in and share what you have to say.
All right, Jenny's got feedback. There are VA hiring companies that stick with you through the entire engagement with a VA to hold them accountable and help communication. Check out Dually Works. They're Chicago based and hire from the Philippines and South America. They can help you. High five, Jenny. Now Jenny, if you've got a link for Dually Works, I would love to share that on the show.
So thank you Jenny for that feedback. We appreciate it. Love having you with us on the show. We've got a kicker coming up. I, I've invented a new word and it, it's so prophetic.
It's so prophetic. I, I'll tell you how I invented this word and it perfectly sums up the bad day that I'm having. Just this morning, nothing worked yesterday, nothing worked at all.
And I invented a word while I was on vacation. That just sums it up perfectly. And I will tell you after we talk about the second big announcement that we have today, I have been flooded with people asking me. What are you doing with ai? What are you doing with ai? Are you gonna help us with ai? What's going on?
Because on the show, I've been talking about it so much, I now have a segment on the show every day for ai because I realize I'm talking about it all the time. 'cause I'm kind of obsessed. I've been doing it on LinkedIn, and LinkedIn is popping right now. Anytime I talk about AI just goes nuts. And people have been asking me, I've had three separate people.Who are in the would tell me the truth.
Smart Kid Club. I have people in my life Suzy's watching the show. She's one of them who would call me up and say, Hey, you need to do this differently. And I would listen 'cause she's smart and she cares about me. So I've had three of those types of people tell me, okay Pat, what are we doing with ai?
What are we doing? Well, this is what we're doing. I'm launching the AI installation group. Here's the deal, ai, the revolution. I would say that it's here, but it's already going on and in the next six months, the way that we change, the way that we run our small business is absolutely going to change in a radical way.
We've got new developments happening every single day and it is so easy to feel like you're not gonna be able to keep up. The big scary thing that might keep you up at night is that you may be afraid that you can't unlock the productivity that is promised. 'cause you hear me go on the air and say, oh, my Claude Cowork did the thing, and you're like, I don't have a Claude Cowork.
How do I get one automation? That sounds good, but what should I automate? What is everybody else doing? So it's easy to feel like you're falling behind. That's why I'm building this group.
It's part education because we have to get you up to speed. It's also part action. It's not just a class. The groups are designed to teach you what you need to know, but also help you install the software into the business.
Because the way that I think about what's happening right now. We can call them AI agents and all that stuff, but let's use Cookie Monster Language. What we're doing is we're building a virtual team for your business, right inside your business. This program that I'm launching, it's a six month program.
Why is it six months? I think after six months. We'll either be ready to like do another six months 'cause everything is so crazy and amazing. Or in the first six months, we're gonna make such a radical change in your business and bring up your education level so much that you've got it from there. We need to make this technology feel familiar and we need to group everyone together because as you know from the small business owners community.
I don't want people to grow it alone, and I really believe in the power of collaborative learning. So inside this group, here's what you're gonna get. We're gonna do a monthly mastermind group, so you'll be in a group of others who are all trying to figure this out together. And inside those meetings, I'm gonna do some education.
Here's what I've learned, here's what I'm seeing. Here's what you need to know. You'll all get time on the hot seat to ask your questions, and we'll be working as a small team. To implement ai. The second thing I'm doing for the members of this program, I'm launching a new AI slam. So we just did the idea Slam.
The AI Slam is going to be the exact same thing, except we're all gonna be in a Zoom screen together and someone's going to say, Hey, I need help doing this. What should I do? And myself and the other members of the Mastermind will be helping you answer those questions. That way, you are not having to figure this out all by yourself, which is absolutely terrifying.
But wait, there's more. I'm also going to write an AI trends letter. So this newsletter is gonna be me staying up to date on all of the AI news. It's good to know what's going on, but it's better to know what you should be ignoring. 'cause it's really easy to like stare into the AI abyss and try and track everything when half of it or more, has nothing to do with what we are dealing with on a daily basis.
So I'm gonna take all the news, I'm gonna sift through it and let you know what's important and what's not. And then the last piece is I'm gonna be here for on-demand support. When you need it, text me, email me. I'll get back to you as soon as I can. This program's gonna help you move faster, reduce expenses, 'cause you're gonna automate some of the stuff you're delegating right now.
It's gonna help you create new revenue. It's gonna help you create new ways to close deals. And I'll tell you a story on that in a second. And it's gonna help you stay on top of the biggest business development we've had in years, the first six month program. And people will join whenever they join and they'll be in it for six months.
But the first group is kicking off. Later in March. So if you wanna join, now is the time to do it. Scan the QR code on the screen for more information and reserving your spot. The first 20 members get a discounted rate than the price is going to go up. So this is your chance to build your digital team and unlock your AI productivity on your business.
Join today. Now let's tell a story about literally what this does. It's a member of our community that I'm helping one-on-one with AI stuff. And this guy, like we installed Claude Cowork together, started automating a few things and then we did an I AI slam discussion. Just me and him. I asked him, alright, what do your people need to see before they sign with you?
We talked about how their people need to see how much money they'll save if they hire him. So we kind of brainstormed this idea, took it to Claude Claude One shot it like made it the very first time, an entire calculator, showing the benefit of working with this guy. The first time he rolled out this software, this calculator to a client.
They saw how much money they would save by working with him. They signed on the spot. The guy that I'm talking about makes lots of money paid for this and a whole bunch more. That's kind of what I'm talking about. Part of what we'll do here is delegation and faster operation and time saving stuff. But the other part will be, okay, well what if we could make software?
What if we could make apps? What if we could show people what it means to work with us? What if I could get my clients bigger and better results? Could I have a premium product because we build something? Yeah, you absolutely can. That's the kinda stuff we're gonna do. So if you're interested in ai, you don't wanna build it by yourself, the AI installation group, click the QR code.
We would love to have you with us. It would be great. Okay. Thank you to Jenny Kirby for sharing the link Dually works. I really appreciate that.
And Evie, thank you for all of the comments on our YouTube page about VAs and oms. There. So Ma Oh, oms are great. For sure. Evie, thank you for that.
I really appreciate it.
Alright, before we get outta here, I wanna share a word that happened by accident. That's totally, it's just, it just captures my life today. Those days when nothing freaking works and you wonder why technology has cursed you so bad. And I find that when I'm tired. For some reason make the best stuff. So it is Thursday night flying home from Las Vegas, and if you do Las Vegas correctly, the flight home is just, you forget you're even doing it 'cause you're just so exhausted.
Well, I was a zombie. I was out. I was just like I was, I could barely watch the movie I had downloaded. I was so tired. But for some reason, while I'm flying home. This new word flashed into my head, and it just perfectly sums up when a business person has a bad day. Those days when nothing is right and you just feel like crap.
Are you ready? The word is entrepreneur. Entrepreneur. Today, I am an entrepreneur because everything's going to crap. Entrepreneur and that's what it feels like. You know, when I'm only here, I'm the only guy here and I can yell at Claude, but Claude will say, oh yeah, that's a great point, pat. You know, it always will agree with me.
And you just, you're just, ah, so yeah, entrepreneur, that's the word of the day. All right. Before we get outta here, let's celebrate the fact that the SBOC is absolutely on fire. Uh, last night was our community meetup happening in Lake Country, in Ocon, Muk, Wisconsin. Had a room full of members Met Pete and Carrie Klein who joined the community from last night's event.
We've added 10 new members in March already. We're kind of in fuego. Uh, and if you are thinking about building your small business by yourself, you don't have to do that anymore. We're meeting with one another inside our online community. In fact, right after this, we're going to have a networking lunch.
Uh, our brown bag lunch happens every Tuesday just to compare notes and kind of coach each other up, say hello. So we're gonna get together here at about 10 minutes and hang out and, uh, literally. Eat lunch. Uh, plus on Thursday we've got our networking and our new member beat up. So it's a perfect time to consider the small business owners community@smallbusinesscommunity.com or the QR code that's on the screen. So welcome to all of our new members.
It's fantastic that you've been. Uh, a part of what we're doing and this would be a great way for you to continue to accelerate your business as well. Small business community.com. Alright. A lot of stuff that I had to announce today.
Uh, most importantly, the wait list is up for the 2026 SBOC conference.
So if you miss that part of the announcement, tickets will go on sale May 13th. People on the wait list will get access on May 12th. People in the community will get access on May 11th. Only 125 tickets are gonna be available this year. So if you want to get to the conference, get yourself on the wait list.
That way you'll get early access. Before anybody else, today's show presented by our friends at Gen Head. Thank you, gen Head for the team and for producing it as well. And of course, don't forget to like, subscribe and share this show with your network because well, that's what smart, good smelling people like you do.
Isn't that right? Thank you very much. I'm Pat Miller, founder of the Small Business Owners Community, the Beater of Computers, because they're not working today. I'm living an entrepreneur. Thank you for tuning in. I appreciate you. We'll talk to you right here tomorrow 'cause remember, this is a daily show and hopefully my stuff will be working.
11:00 AM Central. We'll talk to you then. Take care.
