I started the Small Business Owners Community on June 1, 2020, I host Businessing, the daily show for small business owners, and I put on a conference every September in Brookfield, Wisconsin.
Before that I spent over 20 years on the air in radio. Then I owned a business and found out fast that nobody shows you how. The thing I kept running into, in my business and in every owner I talked to, was the same: we charge too little, deliver too much, and fill the week with work that looks productive and isn’t. So I started asking what to quit. That turned into the six questions every owner keeps answering, and into the group where owners answer them together.
Away from the business: my wife owns a business too, so dinner conversation is what you’d expect. Two kids, a golden retriever named Ivy, golf, an 80s playlist that never ends, and Las Vegas whenever I can get there. I speak to rooms of business owners, and I’m an easy podcast guest: over 20 years on the air, my own studio, and I show up on time. The talks I give most: Quit Charging Too Little, and Life Is Too Short to Build Someone Else’s Dream, the TEDx talk. Both are for rooms of people who own the place.
